I am very aware that counselling takes great risk and vulnerability – it is not easy to take the first step to open up to someone new and share the deepest parts of oneself. That is why the foundation of my therapeutic approach is grounded in forming a strong connection with clients by providing a safe and empathetic space for them to open up and feel understood. My hope is that I can see your life through your eyes and then we can begin to collaborate with one another to determine and accomplish your personal goals for therapy – you do not have to face the journey of life’s difficulties alone.
My therapeutic approach will pull from many different theories, but will often revolve around Emotion Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, as well as Solution Focused Therapy my primary methods. I believe that we all need help and guidance when it comes to “fully arriving” at a particularly difficult emotion so that we can “fully leave” it behind and my goal is to help clients move through that process in order to experience emotions in a healthy way in all areas of life. I work with individuals and couples.
I also enjoy working with children and adolescents. I will often use play-based interventions in order to meet youth where they are at and incorporate their world and unique perspective into our sessions together. My past experiences working with children in daycares, preschools, and foster care programs, enable me to connect with children and families in a meaningful way.
Ultimately whether you need some help navigating your own thoughts and emotions or you need restoration in your relationships, my desire as your counsellor is to help you feel safe enough to face and embrace difficult emotional processes that will lead to healing and change that will create the life you desire.
I am a Registered Psychologist, originally from Winnipeg, Manitoba. I completed my Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Psychology at the University of Manitoba and obtained a Master of Arts in Counselling at Providence Theological Seminary in Calgary.
