Myths and Misconceptions regarding Counselling
“Why should I go to counselling?” This question is a common question that gets asked by people who know that they need help but not sure where to get it from.
Choosing to seek out counselling is a very positive step for many people. In fact, we at Refresh Counselling believe that the service provided by professional therapists play a pivotal role as part of person’s regular health regimen. That said, we are very well aware that there are several myths and misconceptions that surround counselling; some are stigmas that society has placed around the need for help, some are teaching that have been passed down from groups, and some are simply misinformation about the options available. Unfortunately, these thoughts can discourage people from seeking out the help that they need and hold them back from personal growth.
Our friends from Good Therapy.org have put together a small list of common myths and misconceptions about counselling we felt would be helpful to share.
If you would like to learn more about our services, please visit our Services Page or contact us today to schedule a free 20 minute “discovery” session. We would be more than happy to help walk you through the counselling process and help shed some light on some of these concerns.
